EnglishYaari Raises ₹1 Cr at ₹10 Cr Valuation

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], December 20: EnglishYaari, a fast-growing English communication platform for professionals, has raised ₹1 Crore in funding at a valuation of ₹10 Crore from a group of high-net-worth individuals (HNI) based in Mumbai. The investment marks a significant milestone for the Bihar-rooted startup and reflects strong confidence in its growth, revenue traction and scalable business model.

The funding will support EnglishYaari’s mission to make confident English communication accessible to millions of young professionals in India and overseas. Notably, EnglishYaari is among a select group of startups originating from Bihar to secure external private funding beyond the state.

From Bihar to a National EdTech Brand

EnglishYaari was founded by three young entrepreneurs from Bihar—Vikas Kumar, Piyush Shekhar, and Sandeep Kumar Singh—all engineering graduates from Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology (2019–23). What began as an idea in a college dormitory has evolved into a national platform serving learners across India and abroad.

While the company now operates from Gurugram—India’s leading startup hub—EnglishYaari continues to remain deeply connected to its Bihar roots, both in vision and impact.

Within just under three years, the platform has crossed 100,000+ registered users and achieved ₹5 crore ARR, demonstrating strong demand for affordable, personalised English communication solutions. The founders now aim to scale the business to ₹50 crore ARR by 2027 through international expansion, technology upgrades and product innovation.

Tapping a Massive Global Opportunity

Speaking on the funding, Founder and CEO Vikas Kumar highlighted the scale of the market opportunity. The global English learning market is valued at $26–$28 billion in 2024 and is expected to grow to $60–$90+ billion by 2030–33. In India alone, the market is projected to reach $10.87 billion by 2029, growing at a CAGR of approximately 17.3%, driven by globalisation, career mobility and the rise of digital-first jobs.

He added that EnglishYaari’s ease of use, learner-centric approach and affordable pricing position it strongly to capture a meaningful share of this expanding market.

Community-Led Growth and Strong Financial Traction

Co-founder and CMO Piyush Shekhar noted that EnglishYaari has built a highly engaged learner community across digital platforms, including 75,000+ YouTube subscribers, 32,000+ Instagram followers, and 11,000+ LinkedIn followers. This organic reach has resulted in low customer acquisition costs and high brand loyalty.

Co-founder and CFO Sandeep Kumar Singh shared that the company’s financial momentum began with support from the Bihar Startup Seed Fund. In FY’24, EnglishYaari recorded ₹2.3 crore in revenue, a fourfold increase over FY’23. The company is currently operating at ₹5 crore ARR and expects to grow nearly three times in absolute revenue in the current year.

Global Expansion and AI-Driven Learning

The newly raised capital will be deployed to expand into international markets, develop an AI-powered self-learning and live tutoring ecosystem, and strengthen the team. Currently, around 10% of users come from countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Canada, the US and the UK, with plans to significantly increase this share.

EnglishYaari has also built a scalable, tutor-first model, with over 75% of its tutors being women, many of whom earn up to ₹65,000 per month through flexible work-from-home opportunities. The company plans to onboard 1,000+ English tutors by 2026, further strengthening delivery capacity and creating sustainable income opportunities nationwide.
