Entertainment Lawyer Rohini Vakil Honoured for ‘Esteemed Contributions to the Legal Ecosystem’

Entertainment lawyer Rohini Vakil was honoured with an award for her “Esteemed Contributions to the Legal Ecosystem” at the launch of the book IP to IPO: Decolonizing Academic Startup Revolution authored by Umesh Rathod.

The event was held at the National Stock Exchange Auditorium, Mumbai, and was attended by policymakers, industry representatives, legal professionals and members of the startup ecosystem. Maharashtra Minister Ashish Shelar attended the programme as the Chief Guest, while several other dignitaries, including Mangal Prabhat Lodha, were also present.

Rohini Vakil has been associated with the media and entertainment industry for over two decades, advising creators, producers, broadcasters and content owners on intellectual property and commercial rights matters. The recognition highlighted her contribution towards strengthening the protection and commercialization of intellectual property within India’s creative industries.

The book launch centred on the growing importance of intellectual property as a driver of enterprise creation and economic growth. Speakers at the event discussed the evolving relationship between innovation, intellectual property ownership, entrepreneurship and capital formation.

Commenting on developments within the media and entertainment sector, Rohini Vakil noted that intellectual property is increasingly becoming a key business asset for content-driven enterprises. She observed that as India’s creative economy expands, production houses and media companies are exploring new avenues for institutional growth, investment and long-term value creation.

With India pursuing its Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, industry stakeholders at the event emphasized the need to strengthen intellectual property ecosystems and create pathways for creative enterprises to scale their businesses. In this context, Rohini Vakil has been advising media and entertainment companies on legal and strategic issues relating to intellectual property, business structuring and growth initiatives.
