Palm Oil Conclave 2025 to Shape India’s Palm Oil Future

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], November 24: The Asian Palm Oil Alliance (APOA), in collaboration with Solidaridad and The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA), is set to host the Palm Oil Conclave 2025 on December 6 in Bhopal. This year’s theme, “Reshaping Perceptions through Palm Oil Dialogues – Health, Markets, Climate,” underscores a renewed effort to foster clarity, scientific understanding, and sustainable growth across India’s palm oil ecosystem.

The conclave aims to bring together leading experts — including nutritionists, medical professionals, government officials, processors, buyers, and senior journalists — for evidence-based discussions around nutrition, trade, policy, and responsible cultivation. Key institutions joining the deliberations include the National Institute of Nutrition, representatives from India’s Food & Drug departments, Godrej Agrovet Ltd, the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC), and the Malaysia Palm Oil Council.

Organisers note that the event is designed to equip stakeholders and consumers with transparent, factual insights, enabling informed decision-making around palm oil and its diverse applications across food, health, and industrial sectors.

The Conclave strongly aligns with India’s national objectives under the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm (NMEO–OP), which aims to reduce the country’s heavy dependence on edible oil imports and enhance farmer incomes through domestic cultivation.

Speaking about the significance of the event, Atul Chaturvedi, Chairman, APOA, said:
“India must shape its own narrative on palm oil. As the world’s largest importer and consumer, our perspective must be grounded in facts, not misconceptions. The Bhopal Conclave is a major opportunity to strengthen Asian collaboration while enhancing consumer confidence. Transparency, competitiveness, and responsible growth are key to ensuring India’s leadership in the global palm oil ecosystem.”

Dr. Shatadru Chattopadhayay, Managing Director, Solidaridad Asia, added:
“Palm oil has long suffered from misinformation. The IPOS framework is helping to rebuild a sustainable and resilient supply chain that supports farmers, protects the environment, and enhances India’s edible oil self-reliance. This Conclave will deepen the partnerships essential for India’s transition to sustainable palm oil.”

According to Dr. Suresh Motwani, Secretary General, APOA:
“Palm oil is the most productive oilseed crop and critical to lowering India’s import dependency. With the right scientific and policy interventions, it can significantly improve rural livelihoods. The Conclave will bring together experts from health, trade, sustainability, and processing to develop a practical roadmap for IPOS 2.0 and smart-agriculture solutions.”

Highlighting India’s macroeconomic challenge, Dr. B.V. Mehta, Executive Director, SEA, noted:
“India’s reliance on imported edible oils remains a major agricultural concern. Palm oil, with its high productivity and consistent yield, offers the strongest opportunity to reduce this import burden. The Bhopal Conclave serves as a vital platform to unite policymakers, industry leaders, and Asian partners toward a self-reliant edible oil future.”

A significant component of the event will focus on busting myths surrounding palm oil, addressing long-standing misconceptions related to health, nutrition, and environmental impact. Expert-led sessions will analyse its position within India’s edible oil basket, its nutritional composition, and the sustainable cultivation practices necessary for a responsible supply chain.

The Conclave anticipates welcoming over 200 delegates, comprising industry leaders, health experts, government officials, students, media professionals, consumer associations, and sustainability advocates. Through collaborative discussions and evidence-backed insights, the event aims to reshape public perception, promote responsible consumption, and strengthen India’s palm oil ecosystem.

An exclusive Palm Oil Exhibition will also feature a wide range of palm-based and palm-derived products used in Indian households and industries — from food and snacks to cosmetics, personal care items, and sustainable industrial applications. The exhibit will showcase the versatility, affordability, and broad utility of palm oil in daily life.
